No More Cash for Rent in Cyprus Starting July 1st, 2026!
A major change is coming to the Cyprus property market in just a few
weeks, and it affects everyone who owns or rents a property.
Starting July 1, 2026, paying rent in cash will be completely banned.
All rent payments must be done electronically.
How must rent be paid now?
You can only pay rent through:
Bank transfer (Direct Transfer / Standing Order).
Debit or Credit card.
Any other official electronic payment method (like QuickPay, Revolut, etc.).
Who does this affect?
Everyone. The new law applies strictly to:
All individuals and companies (both landlords and tenants).
Any rent amount (no matter how small or large the rent is).
Any property type (apartments, houses, offices, shops, or warehouses).
Quick Tip: If you are a landlord or a tenant and you still use
cash, make sure to set up a bank transfer or standing order before
next month to stay fully compliant with the law!
